Berkeley Square // Thoughts (or you could call it a review)

Via Pinterest
Oh hey, Wildflowers!
Been a while since I've rambled about a movie or series, hasn't it? Well, today I have a whole post for you about this ten episode mini-series called Berkeley Square.
I found out about this from another blogger and I am so glad we watched it because as I am about to show you, it's really good!

Alrighty, so Berkeley Square follows the story of three nannies during 1902, who all work in different households in Berkeley Square, London and end up all becoming friends.
The stories of them and the families they work for all intertwine in a most wonderful way and the whole thing is very entertaining.

The Nannies

Hannah Randall is Irish(and starts of as a ladies maid), and her story begins when she has just lost the father of her baby(born out of wedlock)to a riding accident. Hannah then seeks employment in London, and after some struggles lands a job working as a live-in nanny in Berkeley Square, while her baby is left in the care of a Polish woman she met on her arrival in London.

Lydia Weston is a country girl, who is employed by her family' landlord to assist their elderly nanny and better her self by getting a respectable job.
She is quite a darling girl, innocent and unfamiliar with the ways of the rich and city folk, but she succeeds in being a great nanny and good friend.

Matty Wickam is probably my favourite because of her cute romance with Ned Jones! They are a cute couple who don't really get along at first, which makes it all the better.
Ned is employed in as a footman in the house where Matty works as a hiding place. He is wanted for a suspected murder which was really just a self-defence case. The housekeeper is his mother, hence why she gets him employed. Anyway, back to Matty.
Matty is a stern but friendly nanny if that makes any sense!

The Story

Even though the plot is quite simple, it has it's suspenseful and emotional moments. There are characters you despise and those that you love, which is essential to have a good story.
Also, I must mention the children in this show are adorable, especially Bertie! Bertie is Hannah's nannying child and he's very sweet. Everyone is just so lovable! Well, mostly everyone...

Ned is such a darling which the children. He and Matty are one of the highlights of Berkeley Square in my opinion. They sort of have a hate-to-love- thing at first, but the moments when they acknowledge their feelings for each other are the best.
Okay, okay, I'll stop rambling about them!

As for content, there is a slight bit of language but nothing too bad and a case of adultery. But all is resolved in the end, I shall say that.

All in all, this was a great find and the best part is that the entire series is on YouTube! (So you have no excuse not to watch it!)

So, tell me, will you be watching this now?

A Sustaining Quiet Time Method for 2019

Hello darlings!

The other morning, I was sitting outside in the warm breeze to have my quiet time when this idea struck me.
I quickly jotted it down with the intention of sharing it with you, and today I am going to be giving you an idea that will hopefully kickstart your quiet time in this new year if you need it!

So my idea was, how your quiet time can essentially look like a 3-course meal!
Yes, you heard me right, a 3-course meal.

I created this outline of what this 'meal' would look like.

~ • ~

Start with prayer! This sets the tone and course of your time with God and in this situation could resemble the setting of the table before you eat.

E N T R E E

A simple, encouraging devotional
A devotional is a snack or entree to open your quiet time with. If you don't have as much time this is all you might get away with but generally, it will not leave you full for long.
I am using My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers as mine and I love it.

Bible Reading & Journaling
THIS IS THE GOOD STUFF. The sustaining, amazing, filling, stuff! Even if you read a little or a lot, you got to read it daily! 5 minutes in the Word is better than no time.
Make sure to write down some thoughts so you can meditate and remember what you read too!

D E S S E R T

A few pages of a Christian non-fiction book
This helps you get some reading done and also enrich your mind by filling it with MORE truth!
One of my goals for this year is to read more faith-impacting books.

End in prayer!

That is how I have been doing my Bible study lately and I love it. I love to think of it as a daily meal that is even more fulfilling than real food!

I hope that this gives you some inspiration if you feel like you're quiet time has been lacking a boost.

Holiday & Christmas Haul

Hello, darlings!
I trust you all had a relaxing and special Christmas time, I sure did. My family all got together on Christmas Eve, shared a yummy meal, exchanged gifts and had a wonderful evening.

I thought in today's post I would share the things I was blessed with this Christmas and also the bit and pieces I picked up while my family was on holiday(or vacation as some of you might say!).

So while we were on our family holiday I splurged a bit...
(Left) 1. I found Season 2 of Downton Abbey while browsing a second-hand shop and I was thrilled because I already own Season 1. I wonder if I could collect it all from thrift shops...
(Center) 2. I couldn't resist this pretty pink notebook with gold detailing and it was cheap sooooo...
(Right) 3. I wanted to find a planner to help organize my school better so I found this pretty one which I love because there is a good amount of space for each day.

Sometimes you've got to treat yourself and get some nice beauty products!
This strawberry body butter is heavenly and I can't wait to smell like a sweet berry this Summer.

I got some pens that I needed too, but I won't bother showing those. I just bought them because I noticed that I really don't have many and that a few to add to my pencil case wouldn't hurt!

Top: Another thrift shop find! My dad is a locksmith so when I saw these studs, I knew I had to get them.
Middle: I once saw earring very similar to these in a period drama (The Crown, Victoria or The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society) and fell in love with them. Then I found these, in an art deco shop which was full of period style pieces, accessories and trinkets.
Bottom: This cute pin was a last minute purchase that I picked up while waiting at the counter and I love it. It is a geometric fantail, a native bird to New Zealand which I love.

Aren't these bookmarks adorable? I think so, and they are practical too. I am using them both in my Bible and in the books I'm reading.

Last but not least, I bought a bunch of postcards (these aren't even all of them) to stick in my holiday journal and use in my room.

I was given some lovely girly beauty/jewellery items, to begin with! The earrings are from my auntie who runs a small business called Happyful. I have worn them a lot already.

I'm pretty sure that when I opened this present I was beaming from ear to ear! I have been really enjoying  Audrey's movies lately and her style, so I am pumped to have this beautiful book. (Thanks Anna!)
This section is featuring pictures from How to Steal a Million, which is one that I really liked!

I am so excited to read through this sweet looking devotional! My dear Nonna gifted me this book as well as this other one...

I have already started reading this book and I am liking it so far. The writing style reminds me a teensy bit of The Book Thief. It has been a while since I've read anything historical of WW2 so I am curious to see how this one will turn out.

My brother said in his Christmas card that I had been fairly good this year and so out of the kindness of his heart he got me this present! Okaaay......
I love his sense of humour!

It makes me so happy to get clothes! The sleeves of this shirt are really cool and it looks quite cute tied up in the front.

And last but not least I have this stylish tee from my aunt.
I have already worn it a lot this week. Its soft, feminine and I love the cut of it!

I feel so grateful and blessed to have received these lovely things!

What did you get for Christmas that you are most excited about?
