Happiness in a Bowl of Oats

When the mornings are fresh and cold, when you reach for your cozy socks just as you step out of bed, when your breath turns to a cloud, when you can't feel your nose, when your empty tummy growls...that's when it's time for a bowl of oats.

Serves 1

1/2 cup oats
1/2 cup water or milk
a dash of nutmeg
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Cook until all ingredients are combined and the oats have a thick consistency.
Serve with drizzled honey, a splash of cream and sliced banana.
(Or however you like it :))

Thrifted Clothing Haul

I have been wanting to go thrift shopping or 'second-hand' shopping for a long time and finally, in the past month, I've been to a thrift shop more than once.
I've fallen in love it. Getting great clothes for half the price is awesome! And shopping is fun!
You can either find cool vintage pieces or in style items that are brand new.
I found some pretty cool stuff so I decided to show you! Thanks Mummy for taking the photos! ♥

Grey Knit Striped Pencil Skirt (Cotton On)

Grey and blush pink are my favourite colours at the moment so this outfit makes me soooo happy!
The skirt is stretchy and comfy but stylish. It could be dressed up or down and will go with a lot of different things. I like having simple basics like this to go with anything.

Pink Floral Rose Pencil Skirt (Pinup Couture)

When I got this it still had a tag on it and the original price was $105 and guess how much I got it for? $10? $5? No, this skirt cost a total of $3!! Crazy right?
I love pencil skirts (if you haven't noticed). I have four pencil skirts in my wardrobe now.
This skirt is relatively comfortable and nice for a more dressed up outfit. I have worn it to church once so far.

Flowy Yellow Summer Dress (Capture)

My 4 yr old sister calls this a 'Belle' dress because it is yellow (Belle from Beauty and the Beast)!
It's a really nice summer dress, even though summer is nearly over here. (Yay for Autumn!♥) This dress is the kind of dress that seems to float around you. It is quite cool too which would be great on a hot day.

Retro Red and Polka Dot Fit and Flare Dress (Handmade?)

Love at first sight! The minute I saw this I knew that if it fit I had to get it! I mean some dresses like this cost a $100 or more and this was $3. It needed a lot of ironing after I washed it. I don't know where I 'll wear it but am glad I have it in my wardrobe.
I also think it may have been handmade soooo......

Plaid Tie-Up Shirt Dress (Just Jeans)

Doesn't this dress scream autumn/fall to you?  I have a wool hat in a dark red-purple colour that I forgot to add to the outfit but it would look great. These sandals go well with it but ankle boots will be even better(I have been promised a pair)! The fabric is very soft and it's a nice casual outfit but still good for going out

Cream Floral Blue Dress (Pagani)

I plan to wear this for an upcoming wedding! It's quite elegant and still comfortable. I think the sleeves are cute and the fit of the dress is also nice. *thinks about what else to say about a piece of fabric*
I bought this lovely dress for only $1.50! Can you believe that? The length is only just within my modesty preferences so that's good.

Feather Knit Striped Jersey (?)

I have had my eye on this kind of jersey for a while and I finally have one! I would have chosen a lighter colour but this one is still really nice! It's soooo soft which is great because I hate scratchy clothes/jerseys.

Now all of the above cost $ 37.50NZD. So that my friends is why it's good to go thrift shopping!
Will you go out to your local thrift shop/op shop/second-hand store and see what you can find?
This is also my 70th post!

Top Ten Things that will Make Me want to read a book

#1 Beautiful Covers
I'll admit it. I do judge books by their covers....a lot.

#2 Mystery in the plot
Who doesn't love a good mystery to puzzle over and breathe a sigh of relief when it all gets resolved?

Lindsey from Books for Christian Girls has great reviews that really help you find the best Christian books.

#4 Written by an author I know
I mean then you can usually trust it's a good book!

'Nuff said.

Those books that you return to again and again because it's made of gold. #littlehouseontheprairie

I like seeing other Christian's and their walk with God, even fictional.

#9 If it is a classic
Classics's just have a lot of depth to them.

#10 WW2
I love this time in history in books. It's sad but the stories are 'fun' to read.

Randomness + Ramblings

I have so many draft posts but none of them are completed yet so I can't post them. I wasn't sure what to post today so I'll just throw in some random pretty pictures from Pinterest and ramble about things.
Also how true is the quote above!

First a picture from my new favourite movie The Magic of Ordinary Days. Oh my goodness I just loved it. It was so beautiful. I will write a whole post about because I have so much to say about it!
This gives me such happy and warm feelings guys!
So today we are going to the library and I have to refrain from getting any fiction books beacuse I have way to many books to read.
I am going to try and find some books about gardening and herbal remedies and maybe a non-fiction book.

It has been sooooooo long since I watched Emma but I found this and thought is was absolutly charming. See the little horse and all the tiny pathways!
Little maps are so cute. Like the map they make out of flowers in The Railway Children.

Currnetly I am reading:

So far it is quite good. I'll include a bit from the back of the book:
A beautiful maiden who poaches to feed the poor. A handsome forester on a mission to catch her.
Danger and love are about to unite in Thornbeck Forest.
Doesn't that sound interesting? Doesn't it?

What are you reading or about to read? I would love to know.

My Nonna is taking the four oldest in my family and maybe my Mum to see this new movie soon. I can't wait.
It reminds me of The Famous Five mixed with the Pevinsie children from The Chronicles of Narnia
Adventure and competion between two 'teams', Swallows and Amazons. Until they have to work together to figure out some fishy things going on.
Here is the trailer:

So that's about all I have to say for now.
I am sorry if it was not much. I wasn't well prepared despite having like 15 post in the making.

Tell me what you've been doing!

// A Bookish Wishlist //

Do you want some books? Of course! Of course I have a wish list for books. Of course I think that I don't already have enough. Of course I am going to tell you want the books are!
Note: Some of the book on this list are the 1st book in a series. Even if I only show the first book I do still want to read the whole series.

Books that I kind of already own but love the covers of these editions!

Need I say anything? *stares at the covers*

Books that I have read but don't own yet and really want to.....soon!
I really liked these books and loved some of them even more. The Mandie collection book is the first one. I have read up to around book 10 I think but I want to own the whole series in the small individual editions rather than the big fat collections.
And yes I do recommend basically every book in this collage!

I haven't read these books yet but I am sure I will love them so I want to buy them!

Book inspired things I would like to have!

6 Things I'm Loving Right Now

This post I going to be about some of the things I love at the moment.
Whether it's music, food, styles, books, movies, anything I like, it will be here!

What are you loving right now? Should I make this a monthly post?

                                                                          1. Dilmah's Tangerine, Rose and Grapefruit tea
I can have 3 cups of this gold in one day and not get bored of it. It's fruity, tangy and perfect.

                                                                          2. Magnetic Bookmarks
I have two of these and will collect more. They are great, they don't fall out of the book. And isn't the design so cute? My other one has dogs on it.

                                                                           3. Bee or honeycomb things
I don't know why....they're just so cute and sweet! (Get it...sweet!) I would love to own some bee themed jewelry.

                                                                            4. Typewriter font
It would be so cool to own a typewriter I think. You could write like this all the time.
It's so simple yet.....I don't know how to explain it. Anyone else feel this way about this font?

                                                                             5. Ankle boots
I have always worn 'normal' boots and then I saw these and loved them. I will be owning some soon.
The two pairs pictured above I like because they look like they're made from that suede stuff.
(bad explanation!)

                                                                               6.  Pressed and dried flowers

They're sooo pretty. *deep sigh* I love flowers and drying them means some of their beauty is preserved.

Do you love any of these thing too?
I would love to know!
