October ~ What happened, Favourites + November goals

Via StockSnap
So sorry that there is no nice graphic header thing. The graphic editor program I use was playing up so I couldn't do it.

This is cropped.

I tried to make it look a bit creepy. ;)

My friend, Melissa, and I.

\\ October Highlights \\

  • I finished my photography assignment and got 8/10. I am pretty happy with that because is was a hard assignment.
  • Attended a youth retreat.
  • The school holidays have been and gone.
  • I made my first roast chicken dinner and it turned out great.
  • I moved into a new bedroom and I have it all to myself!
  • We went to a book sale and now I have no room for anymore books, unless I put them on the floor.

// Completed Goals //

  • I didn't waste time in the holidays. I was always busy especially at the retreat.
  • Planted a few things in the garden

Sadly that was all that I completed for my October goals but hopefully I will be better next month.

My November goals are:

  • Start making Christmas presents
  • Practise a few carols on guitar to play at Christmas
  • Learn 3 new songs on guitar
  • Finish reading the book of Mark
  • Write to my pen pals

Favourites
This month I will share my favourite songs.

Tis so Sweet - Jadon Lavik
I found this guy on Spotify and really like his style.
Lord, I Need You - Chris Tomlin
This song is so true!
You are My All in All - not any one in particular
There is a version by Brooke Griffith which I really like.
Give Me Jesus - Fernando Ortega
Great song!

I listen to these on Spotify so if you don't have it you might not be able to find them. Some of them might be on Youtube though.

So that was October. The 10th month of 2017. 2017 is slipping away fast. Don't waste it.

The Book Lover's Questionnaire

Via StockSnap

Please tag me for tags if you know of one or want me to do it!
I feel like I am cheating but I can't help not being tagged to do any thing yet. Here is another bookish tag/questionnaire that I heard about and thought it looked cool. I couldn't find the link to the creator.
Enjoy!

1. Do you have a specific place for reading
I normally read on my bed, partly because it's comfy and partly because I tend to read at night....when I am in bed.
Other places I read are in the car (if we are driving straight and I won't get car sick), on the couch, or at the dining table where it is really not very comfy.

2. Bookmark or random piece of paper ?
*looks around awkwardly*
These are pretty much all of my bookmarks. Almost all of them are handmade. There about 5 others I forgot to include.

3. Can you stop anywhere in a book or do you have to finish the chapter?
I do like to finish the chapter if I can, but if I can't I try to stop in a line break or the beginning of a page.

4. Music or TV while reading?
TV? Who can read while the TV or a movie is going? I certainly can't. I have found out that instrumental music helps me to read a little faster sometimes.

5. Do you eat or drink while reading?
As long as you do not get any thing on/in the book. A lot of the time I will have a cup of tea (Rose, Tangerine and Grapefruit by Dilmah ♥) next to me when I am reading and I snack a lot so if I do feel hungry I will grab a little something and carry on reading.

6. One book at a time or several?
One.

7. Reading at home or elsewhere?
I basically answered this in number 1.
Normally at home though.

8. Read out loud or silently?
I hate reading aloud. Ok, maybe hate is a strong word to use but I always read in my head.

9. Do you read ahead or skip pages?
I try to only pick up a book if it has been highly recommended by someone who I trust in their judgement of books or I am very sure that I will like it. Then I read from page 1 till the last page. No skipping, no skimming, no read the end. I only DNF books when I just can't get into in or I'm not in the mood for that book at that time.

10. Breaking the spine or keeping it like new?
I take care of my books, what do you think I do?
(like new!) Plus broking spines are a bookish pet peeve of mine.

11. Do you write in your books?
Do-I-write-in-my--
No!!!
No way!

This post has been floating around as a draft for ages but now it's all out in the open!
I do hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Happy Reading!

Top Ten Things that will Make Me want to read a book

#1 Beautiful Covers
I'll admit it. I do judge books by their covers....a lot.

#2 Mystery in the plot
Who doesn't love a good mystery to puzzle over and breathe a sigh of relief when it all gets resolved?

#3 Recommended by BFCG
Lindsey from Books for Christian Girls has great reviews that really help you find the best Christian books.

#4 Written by an author I know
I mean then you can usually trust it's a good book!

#5 Set in the past
Historical's are just so nice. It's like they're from another world.

#6 I saw the movie and I liked it so much I am interested in the book
'Nuff said.

#7 It has a sweet, heart-warming sounding plot
Those books that you return to again and again because it's made of gold. #littlehouseontheprairie

#8 It's Christian
I like seeing other Christian's and their walk with God, even fictional.

#9 If it is a classic
Classics's just have a lot of depth to them.

#10 WW2
I love this time in history in books. It's sad but the stories are 'fun' to read.

Scripture on My Snaps #1

Via StockSnap

So I was inspired by this blog to do a similar thing but use my photos as backgrounds for God's Word.
I had been praying about how I could use my photography for God and I feel that this is an answer!

Well, I hope you found those inspiring or encouraging in some way.
Which do you like the best?
I think I have to say that the 2nd one is my fave! That's the Philippians 4:13 one.

P.S Also this is my 30th post!

Songs, Scripture, an Excuse and a Decision

So as some of you may be wondering where I was last week, I am going to tell you. I was at a youth retreat called Rejuvenate. I had been looking forward to it for ages and it's now been and gone. I wish I could go back and relive all the fantastic moments I had with loads of wonderful young Christians.
We sung great songs, learnt new things, thought about thing we never had before and had fun.

Some of the song we sung were ones I had not heard before but now I love them. They include:

~ Good Good Father by Chris Tomlin
~ I heard the Voice of Jesus Say
~ First Love by Chris Tomlin
~ Speak O Lord
~ Lord, I need you
~ Behold the throne of God Above

In our morning devotions we went over Psalm 91 which I really like. My favourite verses are Verses 1-4.
He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God: in Him I will trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

Isn't that a lovely passage?

*slips in a random picture*
Now my decision is that I want to teach myself guitar. I was inspired by the many people at the retreat that played guitar and I just love the sound!
Luckily we do have a couple guitar's so I don't need to worry about that though one day I might get my own one.

I think that's about all for now.
