Thrifting my Spring/Summer Wardrobe

Hello darlings!

I've seen this idea around on YouTube recently, where you go to the thrift shop & try to thrift for your seasonal wardrobe from Pinterest.
All the videos I have seen have been for the Autumn season so I thought I try doing this for my Spring/Summer wardrobe.
In this post, I'll share some pins form my Spring & Summer wardrobe boards that I'm going to try and find at the thrift shop and include my haul at the end (providing I find some goodies!).

Wishlist

• white top, t-shirt or blouse
• maxi or knee-length skirts
• denim jacket
• neutral colours, pinks, blues and maybe red
• casual summer dress
• t-shirts, possibly graphic tees
I'd also have a look at knitwear and shirts just to see if I can find anything there.

The Haul

I did not find everything that was on my list, but that's just how it is sometimes with thrifting.
But I'm super excited about what I did find!

First, I managed to find a cute & casual summer dress.
I have been eying up the whole lemon print thing for a while now and I am so delighted to have this fun summery piece in my wardrobe.
The buttons are such a cute little detail and I also just love the fit of it, it is the perfect length, sitting just at the knee.
I plan to style this with a plain white t-shirt underneath, some sandals and my go-to gold hoops!

When I saw this jumpsuit on the rack, I decided to try it on just so I could see if I liked the whole jumpsuit trend at the moment.
I tried it on, it fit perfectly and I kinda loved how it looked. (After two days of wearing it now, it is safe to say I absolutely love it!)
I love the colour, the buttons, how comfy it is and best of all the pockets that are so deep that I can fit a small book into them(if one would ever wish to carry a book in one's pocket)!
I like how they can be styled either up or down, depending on what you're dressing for.

This wasn't on my list. But I did want to find more for bottoms than tops and this somewhat fits that category so I consider it a win! I definitely want to get a couple more jumpsuits!

Lastly, another item for bottoms, I found these green 3/4 length pants. The more muted shades of green have become a favourite in my wardrobe recently so I think these will be great.
They feel comfy and perfect for the summer.
I plan to style them with a casual t-shirt and sandals, with maybe a little bandana around my neck for a casual, beach day sort of look. They are a little less green in person, by the way!

On this small shopping spree, we also stopped by another shop where I picked up these sandals (not thrifted).
I had seen them around and I wanted to try a pair on to see if I would like how they looked on me.
Turns out they are really comfy and I really like them, which my sister can't seem to understand (she hates them!).

That's all for today folks! I hope you enjoyed this fun thrifty post.
Thrifting is a treasure hunt, sometimes you find exactly what you were looking for, and sometimes you don't. Sometimes you just find this you didn't know you even wanted or needed!
All of my thrifted goodies cost me about $34, which I think is okay.

If you like these thrifting themed post please let me know! I have a few ideas for other thrifty posts!

keep blooming,

Recent Thrift Finds

I realized yesterday that it's been a while since I've done one of these and since I have collected some stuff from the last few months I figured I'd share them with you.
Not all of this stuff is clothes (like the picture suggests) and I'm excited to show you so let's get on!

Clothes

I love this tee so much and some of my favourite selfies have been from when I was wearing it! I love how flowery, bright and springy it is. I have worn it a lot already AND from what I can remember it was only a few dollars!

How gorgeous is this colour? I have only worn this once but I loved it. It's soft and light for Spring and possibly Summer. I tied it up at the front and it looked great! I also love the little delicate buttons.

This one has already become a great staple! I have been looking for some striped tops recently so I was glad to find this for only $1. I love how it looks tucked in at the front with jeans and the way it fits it actually looks better styled that way too. Let me know if you would like a little styling post!

Not my usual kind of thing but I grabbed this because I like the adventurist vibes from the text that says: "Take Me To The Mountains".
It's a comfy, casual plain tee that will go with a lot of things, that I picked up for just $1!

Accessories

Ok, there's actually only one accessory but I really love it! Good looking second-hand bags are normally hard to find in the store I go to but I scored this one just this week and I am very happy I found it. It is very new and has only a little dust on it. Preferably a brown colour would be nice but this blue is quite nice too.

Books

This is an illustrated edition of The Legend of Pocahontas which is in great condition. I decided to pick it up because I quite liked the Disney Pocahontas movie and I was curious about this book. And for only $2.50 it was a steal!

These three I got from a small market in our town for a dollar each. I have read and enjoyed The Help once but the other tow I have not read.
I am trying to collect all of the Anne of Green Gables series so I was glad to find Rainbow Valley!

Decor

Though the flowers in this frame are faded, they have a new beauty that I like. I also love the note on the back that tells you what flowers are in your frame.

There are two things in this photo that I got. 1) The Jug. I got this because I liked that it was neutral but still had a light speckled effect. I pictured this looking very cute with flowers in it and I was right(I'll insert a picture below.)
2) The ceramic pot. I am not quite sure why I git this or what I'll use it for but I like the colour and style it had.
I am trying to add a slightly bohemian vibe to my room while still keeping it flowery, lighter toned and girly. It's a bit hard to balance and mix the tow but I'll figure it out!
(Fun fact: the butterfly is handmade by my mum!)
This is what the jug looks like displaying flowers. I also took this photo for a photography project!

That will probably be the last bunch of things I get from thrift stores since I am supposed to be saving up my earnings for and upcoming family holiday. So.......yeah!

Have you taken any trips to the thrift store recently? What have you found?

xoxo

Mini Knick-Knack Haul

I recently took a couple trips to our local Salvation Army and found a few bits of treasure. This time I didn't find any clothing items but found some cute decor for my room instead.

So as you can see the first thing I have is a little 'porcelain' doll figure. I had decided I wanted to get something like this and looked in my local antique shops and Salvation Army, but with no luck. Then, on the way to somewhere, my mum stopped by Vinnies (another second-hand store) and what did I find just sitting THERE, waiting for me? This beautiful little lady!
I want to name her but have yet to find the perfect name.

♥♥♥

Next up, a cute silver tray. I can just imagine serving some decadent chocolate truffles on this tray!
For now, though, it'll just hold some little things in my room. A small glass elephant, a bracelet set, my 3 and only rings, and a handmade dog brooch that I made with a kit.
Isn't it pretty? The little edge is so pretty and girly. I love it so much and will probably get good use out of it.

♥♥♥

Thirdly, I picked up this adorable dish with floral print and gold detailing. ♥

I am not sure what I will use it for. I don't really want to put items in it otherwise you won't be able to see the flowers. But I love it all the same!

♥♥♥

Then I got some beautiful gold earrings. They just scream vintage to me and I had to take them home.

This photo was a little tricky to get because I took it myself but here we are. I...I don't have any more words to say about them!

♥♥♥

Lastly, I got this pretty ceramic box.

I thought it was adorable. I tried looking up the brand name but didn't come up with anything much. The little picture on the lid is so precious. I am keeping some jewellery in it at the moment, as you can see. The gold details are also a lovely touch to this cute little box.

♥♥♥

And so those are some of my recent finds! I am very happy with them and I will treasure them with care. I wonder who owned them before they found themselves in my hands? I shall never know but it's fun to wonder!

Thrifted Clothing Haul

I have been wanting to go thrift shopping or 'second-hand' shopping for a long time and finally, in the past month, I've been to a thrift shop more than once.
I've fallen in love it. Getting great clothes for half the price is awesome! And shopping is fun!
You can either find cool vintage pieces or in style items that are brand new.
I found some pretty cool stuff so I decided to show you! Thanks Mummy for taking the photos! ♥

Grey Knit Striped Pencil Skirt (Cotton On)

Grey and blush pink are my favourite colours at the moment so this outfit makes me soooo happy!
The skirt is stretchy and comfy but stylish. It could be dressed up or down and will go with a lot of different things. I like having simple basics like this to go with anything.

Pink Floral Rose Pencil Skirt (Pinup Couture)

When I got this it still had a tag on it and the original price was $105 and guess how much I got it for? $10? $5? No, this skirt cost a total of $3!! Crazy right?
I love pencil skirts (if you haven't noticed). I have four pencil skirts in my wardrobe now.
This skirt is relatively comfortable and nice for a more dressed up outfit. I have worn it to church once so far.

Flowy Yellow Summer Dress (Capture)

My 4 yr old sister calls this a 'Belle' dress because it is yellow (Belle from Beauty and the Beast)!
It's a really nice summer dress, even though summer is nearly over here. (Yay for Autumn!♥) This dress is the kind of dress that seems to float around you. It is quite cool too which would be great on a hot day.

Retro Red and Polka Dot Fit and Flare Dress (Handmade?)

Love at first sight! The minute I saw this I knew that if it fit I had to get it! I mean some dresses like this cost a $100 or more and this was $3. It needed a lot of ironing after I washed it. I don't know where I 'll wear it but am glad I have it in my wardrobe.
I also think it may have been handmade soooo......

Plaid Tie-Up Shirt Dress (Just Jeans)

Doesn't this dress scream autumn/fall to you?  I have a wool hat in a dark red-purple colour that I forgot to add to the outfit but it would look great. These sandals go well with it but ankle boots will be even better(I have been promised a pair)! The fabric is very soft and it's a nice casual outfit but still good for going out

Cream Floral Blue Dress (Pagani)

I plan to wear this for an upcoming wedding! It's quite elegant and still comfortable. I think the sleeves are cute and the fit of the dress is also nice. *thinks about what else to say about a piece of fabric*
I bought this lovely dress for only $1.50! Can you believe that? The length is only just within my modesty preferences so that's good.

Feather Knit Striped Jersey (?)

I have had my eye on this kind of jersey for a while and I finally have one! I would have chosen a lighter colour but this one is still really nice! It's soooo soft which is great because I hate scratchy clothes/jerseys.

Now all of the above cost $ 37.50NZD. So that my friends is why it's good to go thrift shopping!
Will you go out to your local thrift shop/op shop/second-hand store and see what you can find?
This is also my 70th post!
